Fontaine is owned and operated by Daniel Good.
Prior to founding Fontaine.ie, Daniel held a number of senior roles in the Irish private sector, including CEO of online marketplace Adverts.ie, and Head of Marketplaces for Distilled SCH—a joint venture with Norway's publicly listed Schibsted Media Group—which included Daft.ie, and DoneDeal.ie.
Previous to this, Daniel worked across a number of industries including music, where he ran digital distribution for a record label in LA, and video production where he co-founded a production company in Dublin.
Our practice draws on the research, application, and thinking by many other brilliant minds outside of Fontaine. We use the pronoun we not to masquerade the size of the company, but to represent the broader network in which we try and play an active role.
The name is a hat-tip to Sumantra Ghoshal’s analogy from The Individualized Corporation (1999) about how structures and processes determine culture. You can watch a quick video here where he outlines the idea as "the smell of the place".
